Felix Castro is part of our Customer Care team. On a frigid January day in 2004 at the age of 12, he and his family arrived in Winnipeg from Guatemala. “Up until then we had never experienced negative temperatures,” says Felix, “and that night we arrived we had the distinct experience of knowing what -50°C weather feels like!” This was the beginning of the Castro’s new life in Canada with EQ3.
Felix’s father, Eduardo, began his career at EQ3 as a Packer. Then he moved on to Framing. Then went on to learn about Springing and Upholstery. He was precise, focused, positive. Today Eduardo leads as the Scheduling Manager of our Upholstery Production Plant. So when you discover our upholstered pieces, chances are Felix’s dad played an integral part.
As a company we are fortunate to work with the local government to open opportunity to highly skilled engineers, woodworkers, and talents from around the world. To provide training, education, and human support. To take time to learn from and about each other. In this mutual exchange we continue to grow together and welcome diverse perspectives in. Felix sums it up best when he says, “there’s a strength and richness in that. This thing of ours here at EQ3, that we are a part of, is a really beautiful thing. It is difficult to capture in words because it’s always growing, it’s always changing.”
